Episode 21: Interviews II: Types & Formats

The different types of interviews that leading MBA programs use relate directly to the amount of information the interviewer has on your candidacy, prior to the interview beginning. In some cases, the interviewer will have read your application and will be seeking more information based on what they have already learned (application-based interview). At the other end of the spectrum, the interviewer may only know what you share on the resume that you bring to the interview (resume- based interview).

We also discuss behavioral interviews, which are becoming more common in MBA admissions. We are essentially seeing a hybrid of both behavioral and fit-based interviews being adopted by many MBA programs.

Finally, we discuss the few programs that have used team-based interviews, mimicking the team-based learning environment that is present at most top MBA programs.
