In this edition of Real Humans: MBA Students, we meet some of the newest members of the NYU Stern School of Business Class of 2022.

Of the 317 members of the NYU Stern Class of 2022, 43 percent are women, which represents a six percent increase from last year and a tie with the highest representation ever. Thirty-two percent have international citizenship; this includes foreign nationals, dual citizens and U.S. permanent residents. Altogether, the class represents 30 different countries. Thirty-two percent of the new class identify as minorities and 12 percent as underrepresented minorities. The average age of the group is 28, with ages spanning 22 to 40.

During their undergraduate years, business was the most popular major; 29 percent of the class had selected it. Twenty-three percent of students had pursued engineering, math, science during undergrad. Twenty percent had studied social sciences and 14 percent economics. Humanities, arts and other majors rounded out the class’s interests with 14 percent. The average GPA for the group landed at 3.6.

When it came time to take the GMAT, the NYU Stern Class of 2022 averaged a score of 723. The 80 percent range was 690 to 760. Ninety-seven percent of the new class had work experience upon matriculating at NYU. They averaged 5.2 years of work experience. Financial services was the most popular pre-MBA industry at 27 percent. Consulting accounted for 10 percent of members’ pre-MBA work experience. Eight percent each came from tech or non-profit/art/education sectors. Seven percent each had worked in consumer products/retail or entertainment/media. Four percent had worked in the military or government. Others came from healthcare, advertising and more.
