Academics

Faculty

Goizueta has 106 faculty members who teach courses across five departments: accounting, finance, marketing, organization & management, and information systems & operation management. Students are given an intimate academic experience with a 5:1 student to faculty ratio. In addition to holding advanced degrees, many faculty members at Goizueta have practical business expertise through consulting, executive and entrepreneurial work histories.

Curriculum

The academic year is broken into two semesters, which last 14 weeks each. Fall semester classes generally begin in late August and end by early December. Classes resume for the spring semester in mid-January and conclude in late April. Prior to starting classes in the fall, all students participate in Keystone, a series of pre-term exercises and events including community service and social activities.

Goizueta full-time MBA students complete nine core courses in the first semester. These courses cover fundamentals in finance, marketing, professional communications, economics, management practice, and related fields. Once core requirements are met, students are then given the opportunity to take elective courses to round out and deepen their education. Two-year MBA students have the opportunity to pursue any of more than 20 concentrations, which all fit within the school’s five primary academic areas. Also during the first semester, students participate in the Goizueta Leadership Development Program to learn how to be an effective team member. First-year students also take part in a Goizueta IMPACT 360 project, a real-world consulting project for a local business in Atlanta. First-year students are assigned to a team with two to five other students, work with faculty throughout the year and finally make recommendations to client and faculty panels. Some past clients have included the American Cancer Society, The Home Depot, King’s Hawaiian and Turner.

Many Goizueta full-time MBA students also take advantage of the program’s international mid-semester module, where students can pursue internships or special projects during the spring semester in sites across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. In the past three years, students have visited 60 cities across the world.
