Overview

The University of Michigan Ross Online MBA program offers students flexible schedules through synchronous evening online classes, asynchronous work, and three in-person residencies with locations both within and outside of the U.S. In addition, the program requires the completion of the Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP) course—a 14-week program that allows students to serve as management consultants and help solve a business challenge for a sponsor company. Furthermore, Michigan based Online MBA students may choose to take elective courses in-person on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor.

Curriculum

The Michigan Ross Online MBA program takes two and a half to three years to complete. That said, students have the option to accelerate the program and finish in two years or extend the program length to five years. The 57 credit Online MBA features 24.75 credits worth of core courses, 17.25 credits of electives, nine credits across three required on-campus residencies, and the six-credit Multidisciplinary Action Project, which is generally completed in the second year of the program. 

Class Profile

The most recent Michigan Ross Online MBA cohort consists of 146 students.  The typical student is 31 years old with 7.3 years of full-time work experience and a 3.4 undergraduate GPA. 24 percent of the class is women and 39 percent of the class possess an advanced degree. Of the students that are U.S. citizens and permanent residents, 31 percent are minority students. Popular undergraduate majors for this class include Engineering (26 percent), Business & Economics (24 percent), and Math/Natural Sciences (11 percent). The average GMAT score was 686. 

Careers

Many Michigan Ross Online MBA graduates from the most recent cohort are employed in the technology industry (21.3 percent), followed by manufacturing (15 percent), and consulting (13.8 percent). The median base salary was $140,000, with 36 percent of graduates working in a general management function. 

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

For students residing in the State of Michigan, the estimated total in-state tuition for the Michigan Ross Online MBA program is $118,000, (57 credits times $2,070 cost per credit hour). For out-of-state students, the estimated tuition cost is $128,000, (57 credits times $2,246 cost per credit hour). All tuition rates are subject to change every July. These costs do not factor in books, supplies, and other expenses. 

Applicants can help fund their education through federal and private loans, although the type of loan offered may vary by student. A significant number of Michigan Ross Online MBA students receive tuition assistance from their current employer. Some students may seek scholarships through the Forte Fellowship and Romba LGBT+ Fellowship. In-state tuition rates are available to veterans and military members. Students may also use federal government loans to cover the cost of education.
