The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania presents its profile of the MBA Class of 2025, a cohort that embodies diversity and achievement. The 874 enrolled students were selected from a pool of 6,194 applicants, a slight drop in application volume from 6,319 last year.

Academic and Professional Achievement

The Wharton MBA Class of 2025 brings with it an average of five years of professional experience. A wide range of careers are represented. Twenty-seven percent hailed from consulting, the most popular industry. Private equity and venture capital followed at 14 percent. Another 12 percent came from the tech industry. Rounding out the top five industries are the nonprofit and government sector at 10 percent, and investment banking at nine percent.

During their undergraduate years, 40 percent of the latest Wharton MBA class majored in humanities. A third had pursued STEM studies and 27 percent earned degrees in business. Twenty percent of students in the class graduated from schools outside the US.  Their average undergraduate GPA landed at 3.6. For those who took the GMAT, the average score came in at 728, a five-point decrease from the previous two years’ record high of 733. GRE scores for Verbal and Quantitative averaged 162 for both.

216 new students (nearly a quarter of the class) are enrolled in one of Wharton’s interdisciplinary or dual-degree programs: the Lauder MBA/MA Joint Degree in International Studies, the Carey JD/MBA Program, the MBA in Health Care Management, or the Moelis Advance Access Program.
