Out of 6,190 applicants, the Stanford Graduate School of Business welcomed 431 new students to its MBA Class of 2025. The report opens with the remarks, “We assess each applicant based on merit and we define diversity in the broadest sense. The class profile is intended to portray just a few of the dimensions that can shape your lived experience at Stanford GSB. Identity is multidimensional — as you consider some of the perspectives represented in the MBA Class of 2025, we invite you to reflect on the identities, intersections of identity, and experiences that contribute to your own worldview.”
Diverse Representation
Thirty-six percent of new Stanford GSB students have primary citizenship outside the U.S., representing 55 countries. Women make up 46 percent of the class. Half of the class’s U.S. citizens and permanent residents identify as people of color. Under federal reporting guidelines, 24 percent identify as Asian, 12 percent as Hispanic/Latino and eight percent as Black/African American. Seven percent reported as multi-race.

Academic and Professional Background
This year’s class holds degrees from 165 academic institutions. Seventeen percent hold advanced degrees. Twenty-six percent had majored in engineering during their undergraduate years, followed by 21 percent in economics. A fifth had majored in business/commerce followed by 15 percent in math or science. Thirteen percent had earned degrees in the social sciences.
Sixty-one percent of the class submitted GMAT scores and 39 percent submitted GRE scores, with some students submitting scores from both tests. While the average GMAT score of the class of 2025 is an impressive 738, the Stanford MBA program does not require a minimum score for applicants. The range of GMAT scores landed at 630 to 790. The average GRE scores for the new Stanford MBA Class of 2025 came in at 164 for Quant and 164 for Verbal.
The new Stanford MBAs matriculated with an average of five years of work experience. Nineteen percent came from investment management, private equity, or venture capital roles, and another 17 percent had worked in consulting. Thirteen percent of the class hailed from the technology sector. Ten percent of the class previously worked in government, education, or the nonprofit sector while nine percent have worked in consumer products and services.
